ALASKA
Kenai River
This is the destination to fish for the “salmon of your life”. The Kenai River produces the largest king salmon in the world, with fish that have been registered at over 100 lb in weight. It also offers excellent fishing for large rainbow trout and one of the biggest runs of sockeye salmon you will ever see.
Alaska Peninsula
It is like going back in time to when fishermen had just discovered Alaska as a sportfishing paradise: incredible numbers of fish, wild untouched nature, beautiful scenery awithout a trace of civilization.
Naknek River
The Naknek is an extremely versatile river which offers excelent fishing for sockeye and silver salmon as well as huge rainbow trout. In fact, it is one of Alaska’s best rivers for trophy size rainbow trout. Other species available include pink and chum salmon and a few kings as well as dolly varden and grayling.
Nushagak River
With an average annual run of about 100,000 king salmon, it is without a doubt one of the best destinations in the world to fish for this species. It is especially well suited to fishing fo kings from a boat with bait or plugs.
Unalakleet River
The Unalakleet River is a remote destination on the western coast of Alaska, just south of the Bering strait. It is a great river for those looking for great fishing away from the crowds. The silver salmon fishing is tops.
Ayakulik River, Kodiak
The best salmon river on the island of Kodiak. This is an ideal destination to sight fish for kings or cohos on the fly. It also produces some of the largest cohos in Alaska. Later in the season it also gets a decent run of steelhead. One of the extra benefits is that you will most certainly have the chance to do some bear watching.
Kvichak River
The Kvichak is one of North Ameica’s legendary trout rivers. The rainbow trout become huge here gorging on the eggs and flesh of the millions of sockeye that return to the river every year to spawn.
Tsiu River
The Tsiu River might just be the best coho salmon river in Alaska. With shallow waters ideal for sight fishing for silvers, it is blessed with one of the largest and stable runs of cohos in the state. This is the ideal place to fish for aggressive coho salmon fresh fromthe sea.
