Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego

No other river in the world can rival the Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego in the number of large sea-run brown trout it produces. An average fish will run about 9 or 10 lbs, but 20+ lb fish are not at all uncommon. We work with various excellent lodges the fish here.

Tierra del Fuego, Chile

Tierra del Fuego’s Rio Grande is probably the best place in the world to catch a trophy size sea-run brown trout. However, if you are looking for some added fun, the Chilean side of the island also offers incredible fly fishing for resident trout in other rivers and lakes.

Irigoyen River, Tierra del Fuego

Less publicized than its sister river, the Río Grande, the Gallegos River also produces trophy sea-run browns as well as abundant resident brown trout.

ICELAND

Tungufljot

Local fishermen consider the Tungufljot Iceland’s answer to the Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego. It is undoubtedly one of the best rivers in the country to fly fish for large sea-run brown trout. The average size of the seatrout here is about 7 or 8 pounds, but fish in the 10 to 20 lb range are not uncommon.

Laxá in Kjos

In addition to being one of Iceland’s most productive salmon rivers Lacá in Kjos also offers excellent fishing for seatrout. From early August through all of September the river receives an healthy run of sea-run brown trout averaging around 5 lbs.

Litlá River

This river in northern Iceland offers great fishing for sea-run brown trout as well as resident browns and char. F

Horgsá River

This beautiful little river in southern Iceland offers fantastic sea trout fishing in a spectacular setting. Recommended only for very fit anglers.

NORWAY

Aaelva River

Late season in the Aaelva is as much about bid sea-trout as it is about salmon. About half of the catch during this month will be made up of sea-run brown trout

Reisa River

Not far from its sister river the Alta, the Reisa is known for very large salmon on the fly. However, late season fishermen will also enjoy very good fishing for sea-trout.

Varzina Trout Camp

This is fly fishing for brown trout as you dreamt it: huge wild browns often on dry flies in a pristine river virtually untouched by man (other then the 12 fishermen who fish it during the summer from this camp). Lake Enozero serves as an enormous nursery producing huge migratory browns that distribute themselves throughout the river during the summer.

Sidorovka River

Located on the northern shore of Russia’s kola Peninsula, the Sidorovka River is a fantastic remote destination for MSW salmon as well as sea-run brown trout. A small tent camp caters to groups of 6 fly fishermen at a time that have the entire river to themselves.
